Harrogate Club Countryside Walk to Crimple Viaduct
Sunday 27th September, meet at 9.15 am and leave at 9.30am

Join us for a delightful 6-mile circular walk from The Harrogate Club to the magnificent Crimple Viaduct, one of Harrogate’s most impressive Victorian landmarks.

Leaving the Club at 9.30am, the route crosses The Stray before heading through Hookstone Wood and along Fulwith Mill Lane towards the spectacular viaduct. The walk combines quiet woodland trails, open fields and well-maintained paths, with only a few gentle inclines, making it suitable for most walkers.

Built in 1848, Crimple Viaduct spans 571 metres and rises 34 metres above the valley floor. The route provides a wonderful opportunity to appreciate this remarkable structure from below while enjoying some of Harrogate’s most attractive countryside.

For those wanting a shorter walk (approximately 3 miles), you can join the walk outside the Harrogate Climbing Centre on Hornbeam Park Avenue (opposite the footpath sign). There is ample parking nearby and the shorter route will still visit the viaduct. Please be at the meeting point on Hornbeam Park Avenue for 10:45am. Once we know the number of people walking the shorter route, we will arrange transport back to The Club after the walk.

Participants should wear sturdy walking shoes and bring a waterproof jacket, water and any snacks they may require.

Members and Associate Members are welcome. Please note that pets are not permitted.

A light lunch of sandwiches will be served at The Harrogate Club on our return. A copy of the walking route is available in the Club for members to view.
