Izo FitzRoy played the club a short while ago, and was our first sell-out. She blew our socks off. We had such a tour through modern gospel meets New Orleans meets Wilson Pickett. Izo brings such orchestration and a fast, rich sound: think a singer/songwriter channelling Aretha Franklin snarling at James Brown. We were lucky enough to have Izo, her band and three of her choir. It’s almost worth remodelling the club to get the entire eight singers and more choir in the building. Talk about a ‘big sound’.
