Business @ Breakfast: Mark Roberts, award-winning entrepreneur

We are delighted to announce the first Business at Breakfast (B@B) event of 2025, taking place on Friday, 28th February at The Harrogate Club.

Our guest speaker is Mark Roberts, an award-winning entrepreneur, business leader, innovator, board advisor, facilitator, and keynote speaker.

Economic growth, or rather the lack of it, seems to be dominating the UK’s business press. Politicians are going to great lengths to stress how important growth is. But they miss the point. Not only are they not articulating a clear and compelling vision for “How”, but they are far too removed from the actual business leaders who need to deliver. Through innovation, risk-taking and scaling up private sector companies.

Our Business at Breakfast speaker, Mark Roberts, is a long-standing Harrogate Club member. Following a decade in the corporate world, he started his own craft beer business and grew it from “two mates in a shed” to a team of over 200 people. Along the way, he sold it to the world’s largest beer company: AB InBev. Since his exit, Mark has chaired the Leeds City Region LEP, written a book on how to forge innovation-led growth, and become an active investor in start-up ventures.

He will provide some personal anecdotes and provocations about how more businesses might scale-up and embrace innovation in this rapidly changing world. There will be plenty of time for Q&A along with the hearty breakfast we have come to enjoy at these events.

The Business @ Breakfast event will start at 8.30am and the £10 ticket price includes a hot and cold breakfast buffet, accompanied by a steaming cup of coffee or tea.
