Please note that the dress code for Speaker Dinners is smart casual: jackets for gentlemen, no jeans or trainers.
Book your place at our Speaker Dinner on Saturday 11th May when our guest speaker will be Derek Shelmerdine, author of the book, ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Unravelled‘. The topic will be ‘Elvis Presley, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Years’.
Derek will take a look at Elvis’ early years and his time with Sam Phillips at Sun Records before his meteoric rise to fame in 1956, when he joined RCA and released Heartbreak Hotel. From then, until he was drafted into the US Army in March 1958, Elvis was the undisputed King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
The story will put Elvis in context in the development of rock ‘n’ roll; Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Little Richard – they’re all there in ‘Elvis, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Years’.
The presentation will contain some of the greatest music from the Golden Age of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
